So, here I am, starting yet another blog.  I guess continuity need not apply.  Regardless, here I am.  I am hoping that blogger will treat my photographs better than tumblr - which is great, and I really do like working with it, but it's a pain in the but to upload multiple photographs as anything other than a photo set, so I am trying this out again.

This first set of photographs was taken in Washington State, when we went home on leave.  The weather was amazing and totally uncharacteristically Washington.  Enjoy!

Pt. Wilson Lighthouse, Port Townsend, WA

Point Wilson, Wa
Though still an active navigation aid, this lighthouse is unoccupied.  It is run by the US Coast Guard.  It is predicted that within the next 10 years or so, if nothing more is done, the ocean will reclaim this land, and the lighthouse along with it.

Point Wilson, Wa
Again.

Can you tell that Point Wilson is one of my favorite places?  The lighthouse is on the grounds of Fort Flagler State Park.

Fort Flagler is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the journey.  They have a marine life exhibit on the pier, and the beach surrounding it is often home to seal pups come spring.  The rest of the park is pretty cool - you can see what a turn of the century military installation was like - in WWII bunkers were built, and canons were installed to help protect the Puget Sound from any enemies.  The canons are long inoperable and removed, but the bunkers are still there.  They are a great place to explore - but bring a flashlight, it can get pretty dark in the catacombs!

Just north of the bunkers, West of the lighthouse is one of my favorite beaches - it is a great place to go when storms are rolling into the Sound, and just watch the clouds and the waves come ashore from the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Point No Point
Point No Point Lighthouse sits on the North East corner of the Kitsap Peninsula.  It has actual sandy beaches that are great for digging your toes into on a warm day.  Just behind the beachhead, there is a bird sanctuary, usually filled with both fowl and photographers alike.

I am still learning my craft, and with learning, comes mistakes.  I make lots of mistakes, I know this.  THAT said - I welcome your comments on anything - as long as they are actually constructive - how else will I learn?

Thanks for looking, leave a comment, or follow along on my wanderings!
